Heyryun Koh ist seit dem WS19/20 als Gastprofessorin von der Korea Foundation für das Koreanicum am Institut für Kulturgeschichte Ost- und Südasiens (Sinologie) an der Universität Würzburg zuständig. Ab Mai 2017 war sie als Associate Researcher am Institut für Kunstgeschichte der Universität Heidelberg tätig. Studium an der Ewha Universität in Seoul und den Universitäten Zhejiang und Hamburg. 2003 Promotion an der Universität Heidelberg. Von November 2003 bis 2006 war sie als Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an der Sinologie der LMU München tätig. 2007 wurde Sie als Professorin an die Universität Busan, Dankuk in Korea berufen. Seit 2017 leitet sie ein Projekt über die Beziehungen zwischen Korea und Japan während der Kolonialzeit. Dieses Projekt wird vom Forschungsinstitut der Koreanischen Unabhängigkeitsbewegung der Unabhängigkeitshalle Koreas (독립기념관) durchgeführt.

Forschungsgebiete

  • Ikonographie der Buddhistische Kulturen in Korea, Ostasien und Zentralasien
  • Kulturelle und volkstümliche Untersuchung der Meergottheit Mazu in Ostasien 
  • Recherche der deutschen Zeitungs-und Magazinsartikeln während der kolonialen Zeit Koreas
