On her tour Prof. Dr. Carolin Biewer presented Geolingual Studies to various research groups in Japan and Australia:

Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan, 14 April 2023
Prof. Biewer gave an open talk on 14 April "Geolingual Studies: A New Research Direction" at the International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS) of Tohoku University in Sendai, with Prof. Dr. Shunichi Koshimura as her host. A discussion of the current projects by PhD students of Prof. Dr. Shunichi Koshimura followed it.

The National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED), Tokyo, Japan 17 April 2023
Prof. Biewer also met with Prof. Emeritus Dr. Fumio Yamazaki from Chiba University, a research fellow at the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED). The meeting was held in Tokyo at a branch of NIED on 17 April for a lively discussion on Geolingual Studies with some suggestions for potential cooperation partners in Shizuoka.

Prof. Biewer went to Shizuoka for a day on 25 April and met with Prof. Dr. Kishie Shigekawa and Prof. Dr. Satoshi Tanaka from the Graduate School of Disaster Research, Tokoha University, who kindly shared their experience with her on interviewing disaster victims and managers in Japan and the US.

Prof. Biewer gave an open talk on Geolingual Studies at the Mercy Lecture Hall at the Australian Catholic University in Fitzroy, Melbourne on 5 May. She introduced the Geolingual Studies idea, first research and future plans.

On 9 May Prof. Biewer talked about the results of the Ukraine study of the GLS team at the Centre of Urban Research of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. A lively discussion about Geolingual Studies, social media data, the documentation of wartime stories and humour as a form of resilience evolved.
