Women's representatives
Welcome to the website of the Faculty Women's Representative of the Faculty of Arts at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg!
As contact persons, we are responsible for the area of equal opportunities in science at the Faculty of Arts. This concerns social, organisational and personnel areas with which women are confronted in their careers. Our team consists of the Faculty's Women's Representative and five deputies from different departments. Together, we are committed to creating a fair and equal-opportunity environment in academia. Please do not hesitate to contact us with your concerns.
Our areas of responsibility are
- Counselling and support for female academics at all qualification levels, from students to professors
- Advising and supporting the faculty on gender equality issues and the implementation of the equal opportunities concept
- Participation with voting rights in all appointment procedures in the faculty; advising the committees with regard to gender equality, with the aim of increasing the proportion of women in professorships
- Participation in the women's conferences of the University of Würzburg and exchange with the Office of the University Women's Representative
- Support in dealing with discrimination and sexual harassment
- Help and counselling in the event of conflicts in the workplace
- Promotion of (linguistic) gender sensitivity, to be found in the language guide
- Provision of information on Childcare options, support and mentoring programmes
Legal foundations on which our activities are based:
- The Bavarian Higher Education Innovation Act (BayHIG)According to Article 23 of the BayHIG, it is the aim of universities to promote the effective realisation of equal rights for women and men.
- The Basic Regulations of the University of Würzburg: Part Five, Article 29, Paragraph 4 of the Basic Regulations stipulates that the Representative for the Equality of Women in Science and Art of the university or a faculty should be a member of a committee. The Basic Regulations also regulate the participation of the representative in various university committees.
