In August 2024, the University of Würzburg adopted its sustainability strategy to comprehensively strengthen its potential in the field of sustainability.
This also created the position of Sustainability Officer for all faculties and institutions of the university. The main tasks of the Sustainability Officer are to
- to promote sustainable development and implement the university's sustainability strategy.
- To be the contact person for members of all status groups in matters of sustainability.
- To work with members of all status groups to identify and communicate potential for sustainability in all six areas (research, study and teaching, governance, operations, student engagement, dialogue with society and transfer).
- to identify opportunities to exert influence, e.g. on the consumption of resources (materials, equipment and energy) and to provide comprehensive support for sustainability practices in the faculty.
