Sophia Schnermann is a research assistant at the Chair of China Business and Economics.
Résumé
Sophia Schnermann holds a Bachelor of Arts from Münster University of Applied Sciences (“European Business Programme”) and a Master of Arts from Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg (“China Language and Economy”).
In the context of her studies, she spent two semesters in France (at Ecole de Management de Normandie in Le Havre) and four semesters in China (at Chengdu Sport University, Xihua University, Peking University, and Nanjing University).
During her studies, Sophia Schnermann was awarded scholarships from Cusanuswerk, the German Academic Scholarship Foundation, and the Bavarian EliteAcademy, among others.
Since April 2024, she has been working as a research assistant at the Chair of China Business and Economics.
In September 2025, she also began to work as a teaching assistant in the Master’s program “Global Challenges for Sustainability”, which is offered by the European university alliance CHARM-EU.
Field of Research
In her dissertation project, Sophia Schnermann examines the economic relations between China and Latin America.
Her primary research interest lies in finding out to what extent China’s bilateral relations with countries of the Global South can be explained by political steering theory.
