Library
The library of the Würzburg institute for Ancient Near Eastern studies is located in the south wing of the Residenz, third floor. It houses ca. 20,000 books, ranging from works of popular science and introductions to the culture and history of ancient Mesopotamia to a wide selection of specialist literature, dictionaries, and encyclopaedias. Several other specialised libraries related to the study of ancient cultures (Egyptology, Classics, Archaeology, Ancient History) are located in the same building.
The library is open from Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. but is usually accessible in the afternoon as well (please ring the bell in any case). Arrangements can be made for guest researchers and advanced students to have 24-hour access. Students' requests will be given consideration when purchasing new books.
