    Lena Wassermann, M.A.

    Lena Wassermann is a research assistant at the Chair of China Business and Economics. Her research is funded is by the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (bidt).

    Résumé

    Before joining the Chair, Lena Wasserman studied Sinology and Economics at the University of Munich for her bachelor’s degree. Furthermore, she holds a master’s degree in Politics of East Asia from the Ruhr-University Bochum and worked on the role of private data in China’s political economy in her thesis. During her studies, she spent two and a half years in China - studying at Nankai University in Tianjin as well as conducting internships at the German Consulate General in Guangzhou and the Mercator Institute for Chinese Studies (MERICS).

    Field of Research

    Her dissertation project pertains to the research group “Learning from the frontrunner? A multidisciplinary analysis of the Chinese Social Credit System and its impact on Germany” and is funded by the bidt. Her doctoral thesis takes up the economic perspective within the project and focuses on the impact of the Chinese Social Credit System on German firms operating in China.
