The so-called "Reform Texts of Urukagina "feature prominently among the key sources for the political, historical, legal and socio-economic conditions in 3rd millennium Sumer. This talk summarizes the current state of reasearch of an ongoing cooperation aiming at a critical re-edition and re-interpretation of the so-called Reform Texts in the light of the contemporary archival records. It addresses the underlying concepts of law and justice, addresses the question whether the acts proclaimed were truly implemented, and discusses further key passages unfolding prospects for future research.
